Penning my story 3: Marriage Vs Career (My 2cents)

Hello Loves So today, Lets deal with the elephant in ‘my’ room. Marriage Vs Career. As I write this I will try as much as possible not to sound like a feminist and if I do, allow me to ask you, my lovely readers, to add ‘with all due respect’ where you feel slightly offended… however let me begin by quoting the gracious Chimamanda Ngozi, ‘We teach girls to shrink themselves, To make themselves smaller We say to girls, “You can have ambition But not too much You should aim to be successful But not too successful Otherwise you will threaten the man.” Because I am female I am expected to aspire to marriage I am expected to make my life choices Always keeping in mind that Marriage is the most important Now marriage can be a source of Joy and love and mutual support But why do we teach girls to aspire to marriage, And we don’t teach boys the same? Hello, Loves!!! So as I write this, I’m busy abusing the replay button on the song countdown by Beyonce!  I’ve always felt like once in a while this lady just decides to throw everything out and just pretty much have fun when writing her music and creating her videos and probably decides you know what, I’m not queen bee, today I’m just Beyonce, singing in the shower.. Shelf the whole serious corporate look and just try having fun with what I have in my wardrobe. In this case, I chose to wear a tulle skirt over a dress I bought […]

We are one!!

Hello, my loves! happy happy happy new year!! Can you imagine we are one!!! So much emotion inundates me as I write this. And as much as I haven’t been that consistent with my postings, the love and support from you all has never ceased, always overwhelming and I can’t thank you all enough.  For this sole reason, to reciprocate my love and to celebrate my blog, I will give you a little bit of insight on how it all began, what led to the birth of Amor, and why Amor. This is a very personal story but I think I’m ready to share it. I’ve healed and am at peace with myself. About a year and a half ago or more…. I certainly wish I could say I was heart broken, but I cant because it was never love (I think it was mere desperation to settle down). So Let’s just say I was betrayed. It was the most shocking and absurd thing I had ever had to experience. For a split second I felt like I should have been 19 when this happened, maybe it wouldn’t be so brutal to deal with. The betrayal however never even came from the […]
