My Make up Journey!

hello loves,

I had totally missed you! So today let me talk to you about beauty by sharing my make up journey!!

Do you know make up first started with Egyptians?? Ironically that’s where I first learnt how to wear make up!

2009! I’m dressed up and all ready to go and this typical Kenyan girl picks her best outfit and applies baby oil on her face and lip balm, (my excuse for using baby oil, it was winter and i can’t stand a chapped forehead so don’t judge!)

So I rushed to my new found egyptian soul sister’s room ready to go for my first night out on the streets of Egypt, (be rest assured I had donned what I thought was my ‘Sunday best’ outfit) the shock on her face as she asked if I was going out without makeup was one I will live to remember infact I would have sworn the face she made was the same one my pious mother made when i first wore leather tights! Too sincere, too fresh to forget!

she didn’t even wait for an explanation, she just grabbed my hand and started this whole transformation on my face, I call it transformation because when a girl can’t see her blackheads as she stares at the mirror, thats a transformation! I’ve been hooked ever since.

I know many are all about natural beauty and all, and I totally second you on that although, I doubt everyone wants to see that blackhead that was formed from you busy messing with that pimple the whole week. Therefore ladies, my humble suggestion is if you are starting your journey today, which i highly recommend you do!  You just need the basics,

Foundation that matches your skin tone, Face powder that matches your skin tone, Mascara and a simple shade of lipstick or lipgloss or even lip balm.

looking good gives you confidence, make up keeps that head up high. So if we are taking chances, lets not only look confident. lets keep that head up high!

P.S It is very essential to use products that don’t damage your skin. Personally I’d suggest Mac, Avon or sleek products. Although they are not pocket friendly, you can start by buying one item at a time, you really don’t need a whole set ;-). Loves, You can’t gamble with skin products  and please beware of counterfeits too 🙂

My fashion blog make up journey was made possible by Miss Jane Momanyi, it was so much fun! Enjoy photos of this transformation:-)

Hey girl, thanks for the love and support on the blog.
I have always used liquid eyeliner and if that is what you need, i would suggest you go for Sleek that is sold either in Nakumatt Nyali City Mall, on the sleek products shelf near the cashier or in Nyali centre (commonly known as naivas) in a cosmetic shop called Super cosmetics…

      hey Lus,
Acne is treated differently depending on skin types therefore my humble suggestion is if you could see a dermatologist before trying home remedies. After that, you can now take care of your skin with mild products. Personally I wash my face with Baby Johnson Bath soap and use Johnson Baby Oil (baby products have the least chemical content). I would also suggest you hydrate a lot. Drink Lots of water, it works wonders to the skin….hope I was of help 🙂 xoxo

      Hey Madge,
I don’t know the name of the polish but I got my nails done at Ashley’s Beauty Hair Salon in Mombasa, If you drop by there ask for a man Named Dan and tell him I sent you and you would like the nude polish I had on. He will surely help.
